A man set himself a blaze in South Mugirango, Kisii County on Wednesday night.
The deceased, Douglas Mirera, a father of three is said to have arrived with petrol at his home and ordered his wife and kids to get out before setting himself ablaze.
"The man has been uneasy for the last two weeks and even stopped going to church," said Samuel Kerema, a neighbor.
David Kobingi, a nyumba kumi official confirmed the incident saying that it is unfortunate the man decided to take his own life.
"The wife said that the man was sacked from a farm he has been working in Trans Mara. Then he got worried how will his family be from there," said Mr Kobingi.
He asked members of the clergy to intervene and guide couples to avoid such incidents.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.
