A man from Mananasi area, Tendere location in Kisii County on Sunday evening set his own house on fire after he disagreed with his wife.
Mr Richard Moseti shocked locals who wondered why he decided to do it.
"We saw the house on fire and when we tried to go and help put off the fire, he chased us away," said Mr Gilbert Mogire, a local.
Area chief Robert Isoe said that he received a call from one of the neighbors who told him that Mr Moseti's house was on fire.
"I received a call at night that Mr Moseti's house was on fire and when I rushed to the scene I found him chasing away his neighbors," the chief said.
The Chief further added that the father of two had sent their children to her mother’s place before setting the house on fire.
"Nobody was injured during the incident, however goods of unknown value burnt to ashes," he said.
The chief said that the man was drank when he set the house ablaze and they wold interogate him inorder to deterrmine the motive behind the move.
