A man in Siaya stunned residents on Tuesday when he shaved off his dreadlocks after ten years following the inauguration of opposition leader Raila Odinga as the people's president.David Oguyo walked into a barber shop and pulled down the hair he had not shaved for ten years hours after Raila took oath at Uhuru Park Nairobi.Oguyo is said to have sworn in 2007 that he will never shave off the hair until Raila becomes president. His refusal to shave arose from claims that then President Mwai Kibaki rigged the presidential election, an event that led to the Post Election Violence that claimed over 1,300 lives."I am going to shave now," Oguyo said when asked what he was going to do at the barbershop."Raila has been sworn in. Without him taking the oath I wouldn't have dared shave," he said.Raila took oath as the people’s president on Tuesday in an event the government had termed treasonous, insisting the opposition leader may face the hangman if he dares lift the Bible.Residents of Kisumu County after the inauguration broke into song and dance saying they now have a 'president'.
