A man was on Tuesday shot dead after four armed robbers stormed into an M-Pesa outlet at Mikindani stage in Changamwe.
Confirming the incident, Changamwe Police Boss Joseph Muthee said the man, who was standing near the shop, was shot by the gangsters after raising alarm.
"The man who is yet to be identified was standing near the shop as the thieves escaped on motorbikes. He raised alarm prompting the robbers to shoot him,” said Muthee.
"He was shot at close range from the front and the bullet was lodged into his chest, killing him on the spot,” added the police boss.
Muthee said investigations have been launched to trace the whereabouts of the robbers.
The thieves are said to have made away with 150,000 shillings.
