A 27-year-old man was on June 6 stabbed to death by a colleague in Mutituni area in outskirts of Machakos town after he failed to give Sh200 they had agreed on yesterday's match between Harambee stars and Congo.
According to one of their friends who refused to bet, the two had agreed to give Sh200 if Harambee stars beat Congo or vice-versa.
He said that problem began after the loser failed to give out the agreed money immediately the match was over and disappeared leaving the winner irritated until today in the morning at around 7am when he attacked him stabbing him thrice to death from his house.
"Personally, I refused to involve myself in the betting because I don't have an interest in football," said Festus Kiilu.
Mutituni sub-location subchief Pius Musyoki arrived at the scene with police officers from Machakos police station immediately he received information from residents.
He said that he has been warning youths to avoid gambling games as in most cases they don't end up well.
He encouraged them to involve themselves in activities which can help them in life even if they do casual work.
Police officers in accompany of Musyoki have launched a manhunt to arrest the assailant.
They asked residents to help them in finding whereabouts of the culprit and to alert them immediately he is spotted.
The body of the deceased was taken to Machakos level five hospital mortuary.
