A 25-year-old man was stoned to death by an angry mob in Likoni, Mombasa County for stealing Sh200 from a reveler.

Likoni DCI boss Henry Ndombi who confirmed the incident said the mob told police that the suspect had attempted to steal money at a local pub.Ndombi said eye witness reports indicate that the suspect fled after stealing the money from a reveler who raised alarm alerting residents.The incident occurred at 3am on Friday at a popular pub located in ferry area. The suspect escaped and got into the passengers waiting bay but the irate mob pursing him cornered him at ferry area and stoned him to death, Baraka FM reports.Ndombi condemned the incident saying it is illegal for members of the public to take the law into their own hands, adding that they should have handed over the suspect to the relevant authorities.“We have information that the suspect had stolen some money from a reveler at the pub and as he was escaping, he was intercepted and killed by an irate mob,” said Ndombi, as quoted by the daily.The body was taken to Coast general mortuary waiting identification.
