A man was on Tuesday hospitalised at the Matuu Level Four Hospital after being stubbed at a local brew den.
The man, Isaac Kathari, 27, was stubbed after failing to pay Sh30 for the beer he had consumed.
The incident happened at Ikumba village in Yatta sub-county.
According to witnesses, the man after drinking declined to pay the Sh30 prompting other drinkers to confront him.
It was during the melee that one of the men drew a knife and stubbed the victim.
Police arrived at the scene and found the man bleeding profusely.
Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang said police were alerted after the incident had happened.
The officers rushed to the scene where they arrested three people who had been left there after the incident.
He added that they have identified the man who stabbed Kathari.
He said police interrogated those arrested before they revealed the identity of the man who stubbed Kathari.
