A man on Wednesday surprised a Nakuru court when he admitted that he stole his brother's food to feed his family.
Appearing before chief magistrate Liz Gicheha, Duncan Maina pleaded guilty to housebreaking charges and admitted to having fed his two children and wife.
"Indeed he is my brother and I did not have food to feed my two kids and wife," said Maina The court heard that he broke into a house and allegedly stole 4kgs of wheat flour, 2kgs of sugar, 2kg of Ndegu on January 21, 2018 at Naishi village in Njoro sub county.The exhibits were presented before court.Kevin Maina had locked his house and went to church with his family, when they came back they found the accused with 4kgs of wheat flour at his house within the same compound.They went into their house only to find their foodstuffs missing.He was arrested and taken to Naishi police post. While mitigating, Maina said he have kids and wife who are depending on him for survival, urged the court to forgive him.The court ordered a social inquiring report to be availed before a Judgement is made. The case was slated for a mention on Monday next week.
