A 40-year-old man on Sunday succumbed to injuries he sustained after he was attacked by armed criminals said to be members of the Watalia gang.The man, identified as Joseph Leleshani, died on Sunday afternoon while receiving treatment at the Coast General Hospital.Leleshani was among three people who were attacked by the gang members on Saturday.The gang is said to have been on a revenge mission after their leader was lynched in Soweto area by members of the public.Addressing journalists on Monday, medics who had been attending to the victim said the deceased had deep cuts in the head which affected his brain, Baraka FM has reported.Mr Leleshani was treated at Manyatta District Hospital in Likoni before he was referred to the Coast General Hospital.Nicholas Odhiambo, who was also attacked by the same gang is currently admitted to the hospital’s ICU unit.Likoni deputy police chief Anthony Shimoli said police have arrested five suspects in connection with the incident.He said the five are in police custody and are helping police with investigations.“The victim succumbed to his injuries, he was seriously injured. Investigations into the incident are ongoing,” said Shimoli.
