A man has sued a hospital for detaining his wife due to failing to complete the bills.
Mohammed Sahara stated that his wife had an accident in December last year while she was travelling from Garissa to Nairobi and she was rushed to Nairobi hospital for treatment.
Sahara's' suit against Nairobi East Hospital indicates the pain and suffering that the public went through during the strike being that doctors in public hospitals were not in session and the only place they would sought help was in private hospitals.
"I have pleaded with them to release my wife to Kenyatta National Hospital or any other public hospital where we can afford but they have refused despite her worsening condition and the bill, which is now above Sh1 million," Sahara said.
Sahara claims that the staff subjected his wife to mistreatment and threatened to inject her with poison just because he was not able to raise the hospital bill.
The man who worked as a truck driver is now jobless because he spent a lot of time in hospital with his wife instead of going to work.
