A former Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) employee has moved to court seeking reinstatement.
Daniel Matoka who was dismissed in 2013, on Monday moved to the Industrial Court seeking to be handed back his job back claiming his dismissal was unfair and pegged on mere suspicion.
Matoka told High Court Judge Stephen Radido that claims by the referral hospital that he stole linen and two cellular blankets were not true saying the hospital's security officers could not verify the claims.
"I was not found with any linen nor did they find me with cellular blankets. My dismissal by the hospital board was, therefore, unfounded and bordered a witch-hunt," he claimed.
He said his duties were to collect waste from the hospital wards and hand them over for disposal and also to distribute linen across the wards.
The court heard that the hospital suspended him and proceeded to sack him four months into his suspension after he was found guilty of stealing the said items.
Matoka requested the court to reinstate him and also compel the hospital to compensate him for the four-month period when he was on suspension.
The hearing will proceed on January 27, 2016.
