A man suspected of hacking KRA systems causing a loss of Sh4 billion will remain in police custody for the next 40 days.
Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi ruled that Alex Mutuku, 28, should remain behind bars to give room for investigations.
He ruled that's before Mutuku could be released on a Sh1 million cash bail, investigations had to have been cleared.
Last week, State Prosecutor had requested the court to remand Mutuku for 40 days in order to enable completion of the investigation.
The 28-year-old was arrested on the 7th of March and charged with fraud resulting in the loss of Ksh4 billion from the taxman, a charge he denied.
The money is said to have been lost through alleged interference with the tax collector’s computer systems.
The accused was arrested after a multi-agency security operation that was conducted within Nairobi.
