Police in Likoni have apprehended a man who is said to have killed his wife almost two years ago under unclear circumstances.
Mutua Mwanzia, as he was later identified, was arrested on Sunday night.
The suspect is alleged to have killed his wife, Mary Wanjiru Waweru, and stashed her body under the bed in their house located in Ushindi area.
According to Baraka FM, Mwanzi is alleged to have played a role in the incident, after postmortem results indicated that the late Wanjiru was killed.
“We had been carrying out our own investigations. We had forwarded the same to the office of the DPP and last Friday we received a directive that the suspect be arrested and we have done so,” said Likoni OCPD Willy Simba, as quoted by the daily.
Investigating officer Inspector Yusuf Ibrahim, said Mwanzia might have poisoned his wife.
The late Waweru was murdered on May 13, 2015.
