A Runyenjes man's appetite for beans nearly ended tragic after his father attacked and left him with serious head injuries in their Gechiche village, Embu county.
The ordinary meal for Kenneth Njeru turned disastrous after his father allegedly assaulted him and caused serious cuts with his panga.
The 21-year-old's tribulations are said to have begun when he served himself a plate of beans that was prepared by his step mother without permission.
“I went and took food and he came and cut me,” Njeru said, in pain.
Njeru says that his father used to tell him he would chop him into pieces and bury him next to his mother, and adds that he is still puzzled by his father's eventual attack.
However, villagers gave conflicting information on the father-son troubled relation, with the father recording a statement alleging that it was nothing about food but that his son had tried to rape his step mother.
Njeru's aunt Jane Muthoni now advises the father to divide a portion of land for the young man since their separation will reduce risk of further confrontation.
