According to the administrator at the hospital Gibson Onyancha Oruto, the man was taken to the mortuary by his family members who had covered him with a blanket thinking that he had died.

Oruto said when he touched the man, he noticed that he had not died.

“It is a shocking incident that a man was brought to the hospital mortuary while alive. I advised the man’s family members to take him to the hospital so that doctors can attend to him since he was in a critical condition,” said Oruto.

He asked Nyamira residents not to hurry in taking people to mortuary until doctors and nurses confirm that they are death.

“The man was brought here from home before the doctors or nurses could confirm his death. Locals should stop making decisions to bring people to mortuary but instead should wait for official confirmations from medics,” he added.

Nyamira County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru while commenting on the matter said police have launched investigations to establish how the family arrived at a decision to take a person who is alive to mortuary.

The man was taken to Nyamira County referral hospital for treatment.
