The prostate is a small gland located between the bladder and the penis. The gland is vulnerable to illnesses, commonly cancer popularly known as prostate cancer.
Men should, therefore, be aware of certain measures to practice to reduce such risks including living a healthy lifestyle and also becoming aware of family history.
Follow these tips to improve your prostate health and avoid prostate cancer.
1. Watch your protein consumption
Cut back on how much red meat you eat. Avoid too much beef, pork, mutton or goat meat. If you are used to visiting 'choma zones' during weekends then you have to put a limit to that for the sake of your health. You can replace the red meat with fish which contains omega3 acids which are healthy for your prostate, heart and your entire immune system. Avoid too much processed meat like hot dogs. Beans and eggs are also good alternatives for red meat.
2. Consider eating whole grains, fruits, and vegetables
Plants are the basis of life. Give them the first priority in your meals no matter how hard it is. Go for brown bread made with whole grains rather than white bread. Make fruits your compulsory supplements after meals. Fruits like red paper and tomatoes contain lycopene, an antioxidant that gives them the red color and is important in fighting carcinogens. Common vegetables in Kenya like cabbage and kales are good cancer fighters so why not consume them on a daily basis?
3. Ejaculate often
It is believed that regular ejaculation is healthy for your prostate. Researchers suggest that frequent ejaculation helps to flash out carcinogens from the prostate as well as help liquids in the prostrate turn over more quickly hence dropping chances of cancer attack.
