Matuu police have arrested one man who reportedly burnt his grandson and left him with serious injuries after the child stole a hundred shillings from his briefcase in Kalamatula village, Yatta sub-county.
Confirming the incident, Kivingoni sub-location subchief Josphat Sila said that the old man arrived home only to find the money missing where he tied nylon papers on his grandson's hands and then set them ablaze.
"The man got really angry after finding his Sh100 missing from his case where he punished the boy by tying polythene papers on his hands and setting them on fire," said Sila.
Sila said that with the help of community policing officers, he was able to arrest the man and handed him over to Matuu police station.
The little boy is receiving treatment in Matuu level four hospital as his grandfather is held at Matuu police station as he await to appear in court on Monday.
