A 56-year-old man was on Tuesday sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling a 12-year-old minor and transmitting the deadly HIV virus.
According to Resident Magistrate Eunice Kelly, Raphael Mbugua was found guilty of defiling the minor beyond reasonable doubts on December 26 2014.
The minor was lured by the accused with chapati after which he proceeded with the act and warn her of disclosing the ordeal.
He was accused on three counts, defilement, committing and indecent act and deliberately transmitting HIV virus to the minor.
According to the medical report produced in court, the minor was found to have been defiled when her mother insisted the child to say what had happened to her.
She was found to be HIV positive after a VCT test was conducted at the hospital.
He unsuccessfully pleaded with the magistrate to grant him a reasonable jail term since he is the sole bread of his family winner and a father of three.
Mbugua was handed a life sentence but was given 14 days to appeal.
