A 42-year-old man was on Tuesday told to serve six months in jail or pay a Sh30,000 fine after being accused of assault.
Machakos Magistrate's Court heard that on 25 August, at Kyeleni in Matungulu sub-county, Wycliff Musembi assaulted Mercy Gitari causing bodily harm to her.
During the court session, prosecution heard that the accused and the complainant had an intimate relationship by the time of the incident.
The court also heard that during the day of the assault, Ms Gitari and her two cousins Erastus Gitonga and Purity Kathomi were watching television at her home when the accused came and requested to talk to the complainant privately.
The accused twisted the complainant’s arm before she went to hide in her bedroom where he followed and stabbed her on the forehead.
The accused has been ordered to repay the medical bill for the complainant despite serving the jail term.
