A Kisumu law court on Tuesday sentenced a man to two years imprisonment after being found guilty of destroying property.

Timothy Okundi 26, pleaded guilty to the charges of the offence he committed on the 27th of February this year in Kisian Kisumu county.

The court heard that on the said date the accused arrived home at midnight and ordered her mother to give him food, something her mother refused.

He is said to have taken a machete and started cutting banana's in the plantation that belonged to her mother.

The banana's are said to have been ripe and they were valued at Sh10,000.

Her mother Mirian Akeyo is a banana seller in Kisumu town.

Ms Akeyo reported the matter at the Kisian police station the following day where the arrest was made.

Mr Okundi pleaded with Kisumu Principal Magistrate Thomas Obutu for forgiveness saying he regrets his actions and alcohol was controlling him.

He was sentenced to two years imprisonment.
