Police have launched a manhunt on a man who allegedly attacked and injured his son at Chirongwe in Kisii County on Friday.
Neighbors said the suspect went into hiding after he stabbed the victim in the stomach using a machete.
“We heard them quarreling loudly but we could not tell what the quarrel was about, the son screamed and attracted neighbors who rushed there and found him lying down in a pool of blood. The victim was rushed to hospital where he is currently being treated,” said resident Justine Onchoke.
Ochoke said the suspect poured Sulphuric Acid on the victim during the scuffle.
He said the residents could have lynched the suspect.
“We are yet to know why the two were quarreling, locals searched him everywhere but didn’t find him. He is lucky he escaped unhurt, otherwise, he could have been dead by now,” Ochoke said.
Area Nyumba Kumi official identified as Daniel Morumbwa said they reported the matter to police officers who are hunting on the suspect.
"The matter was reported to police officers who are hunting the suspect who went into hiding immediately he committed the crime, we hope police will find him to face assault charges,” said Morumbwa.
