Police officers in Igonga Division Kisii South Sub County are hunting a man who impregnated a primary school girl.
According to the police, the middle-aged man identified as Edwin Nyakundi went into hiding after he realized police were pursuing him.
Area police boss Nicholas Omondi Olago said the girl is now 6 months pregnant was a class 8 pupil at Nyabieiyo primary school.
“Police officers are searching for the man who went into hiding immediately he noticed he was being pursued. Members of the public should help police with information which will lead to the arrest of the suspect,” said Olago.
He called on parents in the region to be good role models and advise their young children not to engage in sex while in school.
"Parents in the region should be responsible and guide their children in life issues. Most of the underage children have been engaging in unprotected sex due to lack of guidance and counselling from parents,” he said.
Olago warned men against impregnating minors saying the law will not spare anyone spoiling the future of the female children.
