A man charged with defiling two minors has been arraigned in a Thika court.
Mwangi Mwaura appeared before chief magistrate Stephen Mbungi and was charged with the offence of defiling according to section 8(1)2 of sexual offences act no 3 of 2006.
The court heard that on September 2, the accused defiled an 11-year-old minor while on her way to school in the Igikiro area of Kiambu County. The accused was also convicted of defiling another six-year-old minor at an unknown date and time but in the same area.
One of the defiled is a class five pupil at Igikiro primary school. She told the court that she was on her way to school in the morning when he met the accused and he committed the offence after convincing her. The accused allegedly gave the minor a 20 shilling coin to buy her silence.
The other girl was defiled from his home, where the accused lured the girl into his house before abusing her.
Both victims did not report to their parents until September 29 when the grandmother to one of the girls noticed the granddaughter’s dirty underwear. She confronted her and she confessed of the heinous act done to her by the accused.
The girls were taken to Maragua District Hospital where the doctor’s tests proved they were defiled. Mwaura was then arrested and locked up at Makuyu police station.
The accused has denied the charges and was released on a Sh500,000 bond of and a surety of a similar amount.
The case is scheduled to be heard on December 22.
