The 40-year-old man, a residence at Moiben area in Eldoret East, is said to have quarrelled with his wife which made them separate one week ago.

The wife escaped from their home leaving behind a 4 months old baby. The cause of the quarrel is not yet clear but neighbours claim the couple were frequently quarrelling.

The suspected is said to have locked the baby in their cupboard for four days before the body was discovered by suspicious neighbours.

The smell from the discomposing body attracted the attention from the neighbours, on Friday who found the baby dead. They then alerted the police, which led to the arrest of the suspect.

"We have already arrested the suspect, who was living with the baby's mother before they separated," said the Eldoret East OCPD Richard Omanga.

Omanga also said the suspect will be arraigned in cour once investigations are complete. He is expected to face murder charges.
