The man who was mistakably operated on at the Kenyatta National Hospital is recuperating well, and is out of any danger.
Samuel Kimani, who was wrongly operated on about a fortnight ago says he still in shock over the incident.
“I could not know why they operated on me. I cannot understand how I got myself into the operation ward,” he says as he spoke to the media.
Kimani, who is a cook at Pangani Girls, still shows signs of confusion, and could not seem to understand how he ended up going under the knife.
He was admitted to the hospital on the 19th of February, and the surgery took place on the following day at 11 pm. However, the surgeon realized that they were operating on the wrong person-hours into the surgery after they failed to see the blood clot that was supposed to be removed from the brain of the patient.
The case is currently being investigated by various agencies, with the surgeon who conducted the operation having been sent home.
Family members of the victim are yet to come to terms with how the matter happened, and have said they will take their son home for now before they know their next step.
