A man with a pending court case was on Monday charged with another separate charge of robbery with violence in a Thika court.
Jam Kimemia appeared before resident magistrate Martha Mutuku facing a robbery with violence charge contrary to Section 296 (2) of the penal code.
Kimani was informed by the court that the offence attracted a death sentence and that would be his fate should he plead guilty.
The court heard that the complainant, while on his way to his residential home on August 15 2014, met the accused outside Carlos pub, Juja town centre at around 11pm. The accused and his accomplice ambushed their victim from behind and got hold of his throat.
The accused, together with his accomplice who was not before court, while armed with a dangerous weapon, ambushed one Dickson Mbuiga on his way home and robbed him of a laptop worth Sh65,000, the court was told. The accused threatened the complainant with the said weapon during the robbery.
The complainant identified Kimemia and reported the matter to Juja police station after which officers arrested the accused.
The accomplice of the accused, commonly known as Machwele, is still at large although the police have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.
