Two people were arraigned before a Kisumu Court to answer to charges of obtaining money illegally by selling land.

Mr Walter Owino and Ms Evelyn Otieno were being accused of allegedly trying to defraud Mr James Osewe of his land valued at Sh3.8 million.

The court heard that the accused persons were found in possession of a fake title deed which they used to try to defraud Mr Osewe.

The prosecution told the court that Mr Osewe who is the legal owner raised an alarm by alerting the security agencies who arrested the two when they attempted to sell his 0.1 acre piece of land.

During their arrest, the accused were also found with a fake identity card bearing number 1807314 and title deed bearing Mr James Osewe’s name to facilitate the transaction.

The two accused person were also facing charges that on June 19, 2017 they also fraudulently attempted to sell land belonging to another complainant Ms Jecinta Ogola.

The court heard that the two unlawfully being in possession of land ownership documents belonging to Ms Ogola planned to sale the land worth Sh1.5 million.

Winam resident magistrate Ms Caroline Njalale ordered for the two accused persons to be released on a bond of Sh2 million each.

The case will be heard on September 25, 2017.
