The Eldoret Municipal court Senior resident Magistrate Margaret Wambani on Wednesday released the manager of Sam's Discotheque, a local joint in Eldoret town, Benson Kimatu on a Sh100,000 cash bail and a Sh300,000 bond.
Speaking after issuing the ruling, Wambani said that after listening to both parties, she saw that it was fine to release him on a cash bail since it is his right as enshrined in the constitution, and everyone upon request, is entitled to it.
"I am releasing Benson Kimatu, the Manager of Sams local joint in Eldoret town on a bond of Sh300,000 and cash bail of Sh100,000 and that the case will be mentioned on the October 28, and thereafter on November 4 will commence and I accept both parties to bring their witnesses and required documents," she said.
Benson Kimatu was arrested on Sunday due accused of displaying alcohol drinks without licence, selling alcohol to minors and using a basement to sell alcohol, which is contrary to Uasin Gishu County rules and regulations, which had recently banned the use of basements due to security reasons.
