Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago now claims the National Super Alliance (NASA) endorsed him for a second term in office because of his development track record.
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Somali community in the county on Thursday, Mandago said NASA's endorsement of his candidature was a clear indication that he deserves a second term in office.
"You know NASA has no gubernatorial candidate in this county and when they were going round doing campaigns they realised how Mandago had performed so well that they had no option but to endorse me," Mandago said at the Eldoret Social hall.
"This is a clear indication that what I have done since 2013 cannot be ignored," he added.
During a campaign rally at the 64 stadium in Eldoret town on Wednesday, NASA leadership stunned its supporters when they declared support for governor Mandago who is a Jubilee candidate.
Mandago is facing a stiff competition from tycoon Zedekiah Kiprop popularly known as Buzeki who is vying as an independent candidate.
