Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has taken a commanding lead over his rival, businessman Zedekiah Bundotich popularly known as Buzeki.

As at 4.30am Wednesday, figures on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official results website indicated that Mandago had opened a gap of over 50,000 votes between him and Buzeki.

Out the 693 polling stations that had submitted the results, Mandago had garnered 158,235 votes, which is 59.4 percent of the votes while Buzeki had 108,083 votes representing 40.5 percent of the votes cast.

There are 868 polling stations across the county. 266,318 valid votes of the 450,055 registered voters had been counted. 

Mandago and Buzeki engaged in a fierce political battle that saw each of them conduct a well-oiled campaign to the run up for the August 8 polls.
