The governor further claimed there was a plot to rig the nominations but said those behind the plans will not succeed.

Addressing hundreds of supporters who turned out for the Ziwa Sirkwa major political rally several kilometres from Eldoret town, Mandago claimed there were individuals sitting in offices who were behind the plans to rig the nominations.

He however did not specify which office, but later Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi who had attended the rally singled out one Reuben Maiyo, working in the office of the Deputy President for having a list of preferred candidates in the county.

"We are ready and waiting for Friday and we want that exercise to be free and fair. For those sitting in offices planning to rig the nominations we want to tell them 'washindwe'' said Mandago.

"If you have been employed and have a salary be contended with that and allow the people to elect their leaders of choice," he added.

The governor is battling a tight competition from business mogul Bundotich Kiprop alias Buzeki.

Others in the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial race are Nandi County Health Chief Officer Dr Edward Serem, Felix But it and Solomon Kiptarbei Maritim who is conducting his campaigns using a bicycle.
