Governor Jackson Mandago is touring dams meant for desilting even as he targets to quench the thirst for up to 85 percent of households in the county, by 2022.

On Wednesday, the governor toured 14 dams that are earmarked for desilting in Segero/Barsombe Ward, Soy Sub-County. He also spent time with locals in barazas.

Speaking in several stops and at barazas Mandago said he is committed to supplying piped water for up to 85 percent of households in the county.

"Water is my priority in this second term. All these dams in this area will be expanded and distilled," said the governor.

Already, the county has drilled up to 50 boreholes, programs undertaken in last term's diary.

Distilling of dams is also ongoing, according to the County Executive for Water and Environment, Mary Njogu.

With Eldoret growing in terms of population and infrastructural development and awaiting city status, water volumes will certainly need to be increased four-fold.

Mandago says he, working under a program dubbed 'Last Pipe Connectivity', is aiming to connect every household to a tap.
