Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has blamed residents for increased corruption among county revenue collection officers.
He said residents don't report such individuals but instead give out bribes.
"Residents have really let us down in the fight against corruption by giving bribes, yet they are the ones complaining that my government is not fighting corruption. You should just follow the right channel to get business permits rather than bribing my officers," he said in Eldoret town, Tuesday.
"For corruption to be fought we need concerted efforts between wananchi and my government by reporting any county officials receiving bribes. It is sad that in the last financial year we did not reach of 1 billion revenue collection target due to much corruption loopholes," he added.
He reiterated his government is committed to fighting this scum.
"If any county official will be found taking bribes he/she will be shown the door and thereafter charged in the court of law on the same. I urge wananchi to act as our watchdog by reporting any county officials receiving bribes," noted governor Mandago.
