A group of victims of the 2007 post election violence from Kiambaa, Uasin Gishu county have raised concerns over recent incident in which supporters of gubernatorial candidates Jackson Mandago and Zedekiah Bundotich Buzeki clashed in Eldoret.
Led by Joseph Githuku, the group asked the two candidates to tame their supporters and ensure a peaceful campaign period.
Speaking in Eldoret on Monday, the group further asked Mandago and Buzeki to stop conducting night campaigns which they warned was a recipe of violence.
"Due to rising political temperatures we asked that the two candidates vying for the gubernatorial seat desist from holding night meetings as this might help reduce incidences like the one we witnessed recently," said Githuku.
"We are peace loving citizens and when we hear reports of violence we are so worried because we don't want a repeat of what we witnessed in 2007," he added.
The group also asked the security team in the county to put in place measures that will help enhance security across the county before, during and after the elections.
The clash between Mandago and Buzeki supporters in Eldoret town, Friday, left seven people injured with three of them still undergoing treatment at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
