[Photo: Courtesy]Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago and his closest rival Bundotich Kiprop, alias Buzeki, met face to face in Eldoret, during Idd-Ul-Fitr, Sunday.The duo have been in a political showdown, with each of them accusing the other of sabotage.Buzeki accuses Mandago of failing the people of Uasin Gishu, a home county to Deputy President William Ruto, and also fronting community differences.On the other hand, Mandago accuses the wealthy businessman of plotting to sabotage unity that Uasin Gishu locals have been enjoying, by splitting gubernatorial votes, in the August 8 polls.Buzeki is vying as an Independent Candidate after losing Jubilee Party ticket to Mandago during April primaries.

During Idd, the two politicians pledged to campaign peacefully and ensure peaceful coexistence in the North Rift county, saying politics should never bring discord among communities in the county and Kenyans at large.Addressing the press, they also agreed to work together, after election results, regardless of whoever wins.Ruto had asked Buzeki to step down for Mandago, but he declined, saying the electorates would decide at the ballot.
