Supporters of bitter rivals Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago and billionaire businessman Zedekiah Kiprop popularly known as Buzeki have pledged to maintain peace before, during and after the upcoming general elections.

The two groups made the pledge when they joined hundreds of youths for a peace walk in Eldoret town on Friday.

Speaking after the walk that was also used to sensitize locals on the need to maintain peace and unity, the group reiterated that whoever wins the gubernatorial race, they will remain as one.

"We are here because we want a peaceful election period since we have been and we will remain to be brothers and sisters," said one of the Buzeki supporters.

"What is important now is to remember that it takes u and I for this county to develop and this is why politics should not make us enemies," added a Mandago supporter.

Mandago and Buzeki are engaged in a fierce political duel that has seen them crisscross the county that has slightly over 450,000 registered voters.

Mandago is seeking to defend his seat on a Jubilee party ticket why Buzeki is vying as an independent candidate.
