Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has pledged to work closely with other governors in the North Rift region so as to help bring to an end the perennial insecurity issues some of the devolved units face.
Mandago said insecurity had contributed to the slow economic growth in the region.
Speaking in Eldoret, Tuesday, the governor said there was need for devolved units to also work closely with national government in finding a lasting solution.
"We have a great potential as a region and we need to work together first in addressing insecurity challenge we are facing as this will be a step to the right direction," noted Mandago who is also the North Rift economic bloc (Noreb) chairman.
Noreb brings together eight counties in the region with Baringo, West Pokot, Turkana and Elgeyo Makwet still battling insecurity due to cattle rustling and fights over pasture and water among herders.
