Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has called for the increase of maize buying price from farmers.Speaking in Eldoret while leading the Jubilee campaign rally on Saturday, Mandago said the price should be increased up from the Sh 3,200 per 90kg bag proposed by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett. The Jubilee governor noted that the current price was too low."The price is too low considering that this was a difficult year for maize farmers, having faced several challenges such as army worms outbreak and drought," said Mandago. The Uasin Gishu county boss further said he will engage his party's leadership and other stakeholders so that the prices can be increased for the benefit of the farmers."I will consult with the Jubilee leadership and other relevant stakeholders to see to it that the price is increased so that farmers get value for their hard work," noted Mandago.
