Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has asked residents to allow every aspirant in the upcoming general elections, conduct their campaigns in any place across the county.

Mandago insists anybody has a right to campaign anywhere irrespective of their political, tribal or religious incrimination.

Speaking in Eldoret, the governor further challenged aspirants for various political seats in the county to conduct their campaigns peacefully and avoid engaging in divisive politics.

"As aspirants we have a duty of first preaching peace and unity especially during this electioneering period because even if we win or loose, we will still need to see our people coexist peacefully as this is the only way to achieve our development targets," noted Mandago.

"We need to avoid sentiments that might cause divisions and hatred among the locals and allow aspirants to freely seek for votes in any part of the county," he added.

The governor's sentiments comes at a time there has been reports of aspirant's campaign materials being destroyed by opponent's supporters.
