Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago has warned county youths against homosexuality saying that those with such behaviours will not be tolerated in the county.
While speaking to the press on Thursday at county offices in Eldoret, Mandago said that his government will not condone homosexuality.
He said that while individuals have the right to form and join homosexual associations and groups, the county will not accommodate them.
“As the Uasin Gishu government we want to make it clear that we will not condone homosexual behaviours, those who are ascribed to such groups and acts should meet elsewhere and not in Uasin Gishu,” said Mandago.
The Governor said that homosexuality goes against religious teachings adding that it is a Western culture that will not be accepted in the country.
“We know that people have their own individual right to choice but the choice they make affect others, therefore homosexuals should know that they will not be accommodated here,” he added.
Mandago observed that many teenagers have been lured into homosexual acts with many abandoning their studies and parents.
The Governor blamed the Western culture to many social problems facing the society including prostitution.
Mandago appealed to youths to engage in other activities and shun acts that go contrary to social and cultural teachings.
