Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago and his deputy Daniel Chemno were on Monday sworn into office in a colourful ceremony held at the Eldoret Sports club.
Speaking after the swearing in ceremony that was conducted by the Kakamega High Court presiding Judge Ruth Sitati assisted by Eldoret Principle Magistrate Charles Obulutsa, Mandago thanked residents of Uasin Gishu for having faith in his leadership.
He pledged to serve all equally irrespective of whether they voted for him or not.
"As the governor I want to give an assurance that my government will not discriminate anybody. Elections were held on August 8 and are now behind us. What we need to do is join our hands irrespective of whether you voted for me or not and let us built this county together," Mandago told hundreds of the residents who attended event.
Mandago who beat his rival Zedekiah Bundotich popularly known as Buzeki in a tightly contested race further reaffirmed his commitment towards fulfilling all the campaign pledges he made in the run-up to the general elections.
Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich who was among the top government officials who attended the swearing in ceremony assured the national government's commitment to supporting devolved units in the country.
"We will keep working with counties and ensure they receive funds within the set timelines so as to enable them offer quality services to mwananchi in grassroots," said Rotich.
