Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has advised the locals to cultivate the culture of going for regular medical check-ups.
This, the governor said will help curb cases of 'surprise' deaths which have been on the rise across the county.
Speaking at Kaptait, Soy Sub-county on Thursday during the burial of a county employee, Mandago asked the locals to take advantage of health institutions established at the grassroots and ensure they are in good health.
"We now have a health facility almost everywhere in rural areas and you need to make use of that by going for regular checkups," the governor said.
"Regular checkups helps identify any health concerns allowing for earlier treatment for chronic diseases that can be fatal when detected late," he added.
