Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has spoken out over the delay in county funding.

According to the governor, the delay has crippled operations such as services to the public and payment of salaries, debts to suppliers and contractors.

As a result he has asked the National Treasury to avail funds as soon as possible to the regional government to allow operations to resume.

Counties in the North Rift region reportedly owe suppliers and contractors more than Sh1 billion.

Mandago added that the delay in the disbursement of salaries has demoralized several people involved.

Elgeyo governor Alex Tolgos and Nandi governor Stephen Sang supported Mandago's claims.

This comes after a letter has was written to Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich by CoG chairman Josphat Nanok.
