Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has been inaugurated to be the Kenya Red Cross Patron of the County Branch.
Mandago becomes the first Governor to take up the prestigious role.
Among the reasons that most likely informed the award is the County Government of Uasin Gishu's many efforts made so far in improving health care.
Kenya Red Cross is among many branches of humanitarian organizations offering emergency responses across the globe.
On Monday, Moses Tanui, one of Kenya Red Cross Society officials, led a team that visited and feted Mandago at the County Headquarters.
The governor said the county will work closely with Kenya Red Cross in programs including training of Ambulance Drivers.
"Kenya Red Cross has been doing well in terms of disaster response. For this reason, my Government is willing to work with the team and ensure our drivers get the training needed in saving lives," Mandago said.
The county government of Uasin Gishu has over 20 drivers driving 10 stand-by ambulances based in the six sub-counties.
