The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has been urged to launch investigation into claims that main gubernatorial competitors in Uasin Gishu, governor Jackson Mandago and Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprotich (Buzeki) have been engaging in tribal incitements.

Security apparatus in the county have also been asked to investigate the two and their campaigners over the matter.

According to Eldoret-based Center for Human Rights and Democracy official Kipkorir Ng'etich, if action is not taken against the two camps, the county might witness tribal clashes especially during the Jubilee party primaries.

"NCIC and the office of the county commissioner need to investigate the two camps as the kind of campaigns they are conducting might cause hatred, divisions among communities living in the county," said Ng'etich.

"We have also written to both Mandago and Buzeki asking them to ensure their campaigners do not engage in divisive politicals considering this is a cosmopolitan county," he added.

Governor Mandago and Buzeki are engaged in a fierce battle for the Jubilee party ticket.

Mandago is banking on the populous Nandi community support and his development record to win the ticket while Buzeki is seen as been favoured by the Keiyo community, second populous in the county as well as the non-Kalenjins.
