Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has condemned a group of legislators from South Rift region who have been pushing for the removal of Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki.
This follows her recent decision to send Kenya National Hospital (KNH) Chief Executive Officer Lily Koros on a compulsory leave to pave way for investigations into the operation mix up on a patient at the facility.Addressing the press in Eldoret town on Wednesday, Mandago termed threats to impeach the CS as uncalled for.He also asked the legislators not to mix politics with health issues."We should first allow investigations to be conducted on the root cause of medics conducting surgery on a wrong patient before coming up with any conclusions that so and so is targeted. Let us allow the ministry of health and Kenyatta National hospital board to conduct their duties independently without any interference," said the county boss."Koros should be given a chance to defend her case and if she is found to have committed any crime stern actions should be taken against her and if not she should be reinstated with immediate effect," he added.A group of elected leaders mostly from South Rift where the embattled KNH boss comes from have threatened to move an impeachment motion against the Health CS.
