Political leaders in Nakuru county have accused Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago of ethnic profiling.
This is in relation to a recent incident in which county enforcement officers and the police harassed and destroyed fruits vendor's produce during an operation to flush them out of Eldoret town streets.
The leaders led by Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui and Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri now want the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to take actions against Governor Mandago.
They told the vocal governor to avoid engaging in divisive and tribal politics and instead focus on uniting residents in Uasin Gishu irrespective of their tribes.
The leaders further asked the national government to address the issue urgently for the country's peace and unity.
"Mandago should stop tribal politics because we have seen the president and his deputy work together. He should be investigated and action was taken against him," Ngunjiri said on Sunday as quoted by the Standard.
"Having a section of individuals who feel isolated and sidelined should be addressed and a quick solution found because we cannot have people living in fear in any part of the country," added governor Kinyanjui.
