Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring better learning conditions for children being enrolled in the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centers across the county.Mandago who is serving his second term in office said he will work towards building more ECDE centers and employing more teachers."In the last five years we constructed 580 ECDEs and employed 1,000 teachers but in my second term in office I am planning to employ more 400 ECDE teachers and construct more classes to accommodate increasing number of children," Mandago said in Eldoret on Friday."I want to take education to greater heights by ensuring that our children get quality and not quantity education since education is the core pillar of eradicating poverty," he added.The vocal Jubilee allied county boss further challenged parents to take their children's education seriously pointing out that Education was a key pillar for the county and country at large to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)."Parents should take their children to school since it's the only investment they can leave to their heirs," Mandago said."Apart from dealing with ECDE, I will follow up the Ministry of Education to ensure that they construct more primary and secondary school classrooms in the county to enable conducive learning environment," he added.
