Authorities involved in roads constructions have been asked to ensure they issue notices to locals in the event there are structures on the road reserves that need to be demolished.

Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago says his administration will not allow demolitions that are done without proper adherence to the law.

peaking in Eldoret on Tuesday, Mandago further asked the various roads construction authorities to work closely with the county government to facilitate their smooth operations.

"The country's economy is not doing well and it will be unfair for someone's building to be demolished without prior notice. This is why we need to work together and ensure demolition (if they must be there) are done in a proper way," the governor said.

He, however, urged locals to seek approval from county government authorities before beginning any constructions as to avoid encroaching on areas allocated for the roads.

"If you are given a notice then the necessary should be done within the set timelines because roads must be constructed as they benefit all of us," Mandago said.
