This comes even as statistics reveal that men are afraid and or not much willing to be tested and youth between 15 and 25 years being age groups with the highest infections.

Speaking as he hosted USAID and AMPATH officials on a courtesy call, Mandago said the sensitization need to be made practical and sounded in public barazas.

"Personally, I talk to over 1,500 people in a weekend, if we have statistics and information, we can easily reach many," said Mandago.

"If we repeat information over and over in several meetings, information can sink and we shall have made big steps," he added.

Mandago further said: “The age group with the highest infections is that bracket that boys get circumcised, we shall deliberate on how to incorporate lessons on shunning infections during sessions in the seclusion period.”

The deputy governor on his part said the sensitization on the need to undertake tests need to be taken to churches and other social gatherings.

"Pastors and other members of the clergy can find time to meet and talk to men and the message will be driven home," said Chemno.

The delegation was on a visit to deliberate a soon-to-be-signed MoU between USAID/AMPATH and the County Government of Uasin Gishu on modalities to further partnerships on new and projects that exist.

The partnership once signed, will focus on funding of Public Health Care (PHC) and Curative Services, equipment supply, infrastructure, support and community strategy.

The partnership will also focus on renovation of facilities, outreach services, disease screening services, capacity building for staff.

Randolph Augustin, the Chief Health, Population and Nutrition, Country Director at USAID, led the delegation that also had Ampath Chief of Party Prof. Sylvester Kimaiyo.

During the courtesy call, Mandago noted that all county projects funded by USAID/AMPATH have been successful "because the county government has the urge and willingness to work."
